Who We Are

Introduction

In April 2006 Richard Louv, author of Last Child in the Woods, called for a nationwide campaign to “Leave No Child Inside” and a movement to reconnect children with nature. There are now campaigns in over forty regions of the United States. The Bay Area “Leave No Child Inside” campaign started in California in September 2006.

The Children in Nature Collaborative was initiated in 2007 with the goal of engaging individuals and organizations from all sectors in this issue. The Collaborative is made up of regional and national partners — teachers, parents, farmers, health professionals, environmentalists, businesses, faith-based groups and community leaders.

The Children in Nature Collaborative is part of a network of regional movements across the country focused on helping people create healthier lives and more vibrant communities through restoring their relationship with nature and each other.
